Purpose: americans should pay more attention to what is going on in the world in order to address issues before they become problems/was

• American news media focuses primarily on domestic issues
• People are more worried about the economy, facebook, twitter, instagram, and famous people than wars that wars are going on around the world
• Al-Jezeerah and Al-Arabiya news outlets in Middle East focus more on what is going on in Middle East and the rest of the world

• School- History is the focus in classes, no discussions on current events
• Students are ignorant of what is going on in the Middle East
• Even teachers do not pay attention to what is going on in Middle East or have discussions on the wars that America is involved in
• Result is students that are ignorant of the world around them, the students make assumptions about the world rather than searching for the truth.
• Teachers in the Middle East will lead discussions on different current events topics, even if it does not directly relate to the class subject. 
• Resulting in students that have better understanding of the world around them

Solutions-

•     Read the newspaper, watch news, be more aware of what is going on
•   Read news websites
•  http://www.aljazeera.com/
•   http://english.alarabiya.net/
•   Washingtonpost.com
•  Cnn.com

• Students should take classes on current events and politics such as:

1. Politics of Terrorism
2. International Relation
3. Comparative gov't and politics

Benefits-Importance of knowing what is going on in the world

1. Voting for president and congress, they send American soldiers to war
• Be able to change the mind of the president and other representatives
• Better able to make a judgement on whether we should send them or not, example 9/11.  Iraq did not attack America, and true Muslims are not terrorists
2. Be more internationally minded
• Less likely to see other countries as enemies
• Be able to help people in other countries and improve people's view of Americans

Conclusion:

People need to be more aware of what is going on in the world around them.

Spend more time reading newspapers and news website and less facebook, twitter, etc

 Take classes on current events and politics

Make informed voting decisions

When everyone is more aware of what is going on in the world, there will be less wars, more understanding, less judgement
